What is UGC?

The University Grants Commission (UGC) is a statutory body under the UGC Act, 1956. It coordinates university education standards, distributes grants, and recognises universities in India.

What Does "UGC Entitled" Mean?

A UGC-entitled university meets minimum standards for academic quality, faculty qualifications, and examination processes. Only they can offer online degrees recognised for government jobs and further education.

Why UGC Approval Matters

How to Check UGC Approval

Visit ugc.gov.in → "Approved Institutions" → search your university name. Universities offering online programs must be listed on deb.ugc.ac.in.

UGC vs AICTE

UGC regulates general education degrees (MBA, MCA, BBA). AICTE regulates technical programs (B.Tech, M.Tech). For MBA and MCA, UGC approval is the primary requirement.
