NAAC Grades Explained: A++, A+, A and What They Mean

What is NAAC?

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) assesses higher education institutions in India. NAAC accreditation is a quality rating that helps you compare universities. It is one signal, and it does not replace checking UGC approval.

NAAC Grading Scale

• A++ (CGPA 3.51–4.00): the highest grade
• A+ (CGPA 3.26–3.50): a very high grade
• A (CGPA 3.01–3.25): a high grade
• B++ (CGPA 2.51–3.00): a good grade
• B+ and below: lower grades

Does NAAC Grade Affect Degree Value?

A higher NAAC grade is a good sign of a university's quality, and many students and employers look at it. It does not change the legal validity of the degree, which depends on UGC approval for online programmes. Read: Is an Online MBA Valid in India?

How to Check a University's NAAC Grade

Search the university name on naac.gov.in and check the grade and the validity date. NAAC has been updating its accreditation system, so always confirm the current status on the official site before you decide.
