The Semester Structure

Most UGC-entitled online MBA and degree programs follow a standard semester system — typically 4 semesters for a 2-year MBA, or 6 semesters for a 3-year Bachelor’s degree, with exams conducted at the end of each semester.

How Exams Are Actually Conducted

This varies by university, but generally falls into one of two models:

Model 1: Remote Online Proctoring

• Exam taken from home via webcam-monitored software
• AI and/or human proctors watch for irregular behaviour during the exam
• Requires stable internet, a working webcam, and a quiet room
• Most convenient — no travel required

Model 2: Designated Exam Centres

• Physical exam centres in major cities, similar to competitive exam test centres
• Requires travel on exam day, but no home setup/technical concerns
• Some universities use this specifically for final semester exams even if earlier semesters were remote

Assessment Beyond the Final Exam

Most programs also factor in continuous assessment — assignments, quizzes, and project work submitted throughout the semester — meaning the final exam is usually not 100% of your grade, easing pressure on any single exam day.

Typical Result Timeline

Results are generally released within 3-6 weeks after the exam period ends, depending on the university’s evaluation process. Provisional marksheets are usually available online first, with the final degree certificate following after full semester/program completion.

Book your exam slot the moment registration opens — remote proctoring slots and city exam centres both fill up quickly close to the deadline, and last-minute rescheduling is rarely guaranteed.
